Chi-Chi poodle is the name given for one of the two poodle designs produced at Glidden Pottery. The story is told that the hand-painted designs of Chi-Chi, which first appeared in 1951, were based on the black standard poodle, Charlemagne, the dog owned by the family of Mr. Fenner, an Alfred banker who invested in Glidden Pottery.
The shapes were created by Glidden Parker, while the decoration is attributed to June Chisolm, who received royalties on the design until it was discontinued in about 1955. These are all in perfect condition w no chips, or cracks. This has been collected over many years and is an amazing collection of mid century Americana.
These are usable and not just to admire as they are not fragile, they are not like porcelain which chips easily. We think they could be used daily if one is gentle.
Manual, not electronic dishwashing only. This collection is second only to that of the international museum of dinnerware designs. There is also a hard to come by handled serving dish available seperately.
